Four Vectis members qualify for RC Dressage to Music Championship
On an extremely wet May bank holiday eleven members travelled to Sparsholt College to compete at the Area 17 Dressage to Music Qualifier.
It was the first time that Juniors had represented the club with Sammi Henton riding Broadstone Sonata, Chloe Quester riding Gwynisle Georgie Girl, Natasha Coventry riding Shamlord Chardonnay and Polly Kitcher riding Oliver Twist all competing in the Junior Novice Freestyle to Music class. They all did exceptionally well and were a credit to the club with Polly coming joint second, Chloe fifth, Natash sixth and Sammi tenth out of thirteen starters. A big thankyou to Ann Henton who let the Juniors use her school to practise.
In the Novice Freestyle 0 BD points section, Sally McIntosh riding Fred Bear were second with 71.94% and Marty Davidson riding Geart were third on 70.83% and both qualify for the Championship at Addington in October. Sue Moriss riding Christies Leading Lady, also competed in this section and although not placed rode a good test. In the Novice section upto 124 BD points Kelly Blow riding Mirabella was in fifth place and Laura Windle riding Weltakt rode a good test and was surprisingly unplaced.
In the Elementry Freestyle Carla Maskell riding Be Fine were second with a score of 71% and Kelly Blow riding Mirabella were sixth with a score of 69%, Carla will qualify for the Championship.
Sue Morriss riding Christies Leading Lady won prelim test 13 and Natasha Coventry was second in prelim test 4. Anna Morris riding Broadstone Sonata proved that she is more that ready to compete and although not placed rode a very nice test 13.
Although the weather was atrocious and we all got soaking wet (severall times), we had a really good, allbeit very long day - Well done to everyone.

Strictly Come Prancing
An evening of music and fun was enjoyed by a 200 strong crowd when 'Strictly Come Prancing' returned to Brickfields for the third year running. Riders and friends entered into the spirit of the occasion with a variety of music and costumes.Marty Davison opened the evening, very fittingly, as the Queen, entering on her impressive fresian to the strains of the National Anthem. This was followed by past winner Julie Wannop-Corney and fellow rider Anna Morris, who with a group of wierd and wonderful foot supporters performed the Time Warp. Another duo was Kate Suiter and Olly Staff, dressed as a pair of overgrown swans, they performed a pas de deux to the music of Swan Lake. Polly Kitcher and Sue Morris got the audience going with Reach for the Stars and Ladies Night respectively . The pantomime 'Snow White' proved to be the most popular with the audience; Snow White (the winsome Martin Farrell) being tempted to eat the poisoned apple by the wicked witch (the evil-looking Vicky Lacey); the whole story being played out with the help of the handsome prince and 'Dopey' the dwarf (Flossie Lockyer and Georgie Role). Snow White, also, claimed the prize for the best costume.jhkjThe last entrant of the competition was the Wild West; comprising the Mexican (Sally McIntosh), Indian (Laura Windle), Saloon Girl (Kelly Blow) and Cowboy (Julie Wannop-Corney) on her second appearance of the night. The intricate floor patterns and variety of music caught the Judges' interest and they were awarded the first prize; making it 2 in a row for Sally and Kelly. The evening finished with a display of Jelly Training. Jac Jelly (alias Helen Wood) was asked to help with the training of Charlotte Chiver's (Jenny Morris) very naughty horse (Bev Snudden -front, Jackie Woodford- back end!!). With the aid of the amazing jelly stick, Champion was transformed from a delinquent into a model pupil, eventually entering his trailer at the flourish of the jelly stick from young trainer- Max Snudden.kjkjhThank you to everyone who, so sportingly, took part in the evening including our judges- Tracy Parker, Lyn Whittington, Linda Jurd and Derek Hunt and to the compere Andy Hicks. and a special thank you to Jane Frost who works so hard on our behalf to ensure that our events run smoothly.kjA video evening is planned for the near future.kjDi AndrewsChairman
